Abderoplastics is a surgical procedure of removing excess skin and fat from the stomach. This is the process of stomach formation and not body-weight reduction. In most cases we advise the patient to intensely lose weight before the surgery as the result will thus be much better and more permanent. If the patient gains substantial weight after the surgery, the result of the surgery will be worse considering the extra body weight. This surgery is usually paired with stomach and kidney-area liposuction so that a better figure is achieved. In case of loose stomach muscles (diastasis recti) or umbilical hernia, we additionally correct these two irregularities during the procedure.
Candidates for the procedure are usually people who have had a significant reduction in abdominal girth. It is difficult for the body to adapt to drastic changes on its own. This most often includes:
- women after pregnancy: when there is excess skin, fat, and in some cases also separated abdominal muscles (diastasis rectus, seen as an indentation in the middle of the abdomen);
- persons after a significant weight loss who have maintained a stable weight for at least three months;
- people who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their abdomen despite having a normal figure on other parts of the body.
If you are interested in the procedure, we invite you to a non-binding meeting with our surgeon. Consultation is the first step of any transformation at our clinics. The surgeon will get to know you, examine you and evaluate what results you can achieve.
You can also see a doctor if you know or suspect that you are not at a stable weight. In this case, you will receive instructions for losing extra pounds. Later, we will continue with the preparation for the tummy tuck.
There is a clear advantage of abdominoplasty over non-surgical interventions and self-activity. With operative correction of the abdomen, we achieve the best and lasting results. Tummy tuck has been one of the most popular aesthetic procedures worldwide for many years. As a result, we have a lot of information about it, both from our own experience and from extensive studies.
Here's what our customers say:
- after the procedure, they have a better self-image and are more confident, as they are no longer embarrassed by their appearance;
- in general, they feel healthier and more comfortable in their own body, because there is no more painful rubbing, sweating, redness and itching caused by excess skin;
- it is easier for them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as they are more motivated to exercise and eat healthy.
As the name "tummy tuck" implies, we will reshape your abdomen with the operation as if the excess skin and fat were forcibly "suppressed" under the dress. Except that after abdominoplasty the results will be authentic, much more beautiful and present even when you undress!
If we meet all expectations during the consultation and confirm that you are a suitable candidate, we will set a date for the surgery.
We call you the day before and coordinate another hour of intervention.
If you smoke, we recommend that you stop smoking at least four weeks before the operation. At least seven days before the procedure, also by taking Aspirin and other drugs that affect blood clotting.
Before the operation, you will also receive detailed instructions regarding the consumption of food and liquids before the procedure, as you will be fasting for the procedure.
On the day of the operation, you come to the clinic, where we first make an admission. Then an anesthesiologist attends to you. Abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, which means that you sleep during the tummy tuck and do not feel it.
Cut or the incision line runs just above the pubic bone, longitudinally from one hip to the other. With such an incision, the scar will not be visible after the operation, but will be elegantly hidden under the hem of the underpants or swimsuit. The incision is similar to a horizontal caesarean section in childbirth (usually only slightly wider).
1. In the first step, we separate the skin from the abdominal muscles all the way to the ribs with a precise cut.
2. If necessary, the abdominal muscle is brought closer and tightened with strong sutures.
3. In this way, we strengthen the abdomen and correct the rectus diastasis. Moms notice it as a separation of the abdominal muscles along the white line (linea albe). It occurs during pregnancy or shortly after childbirth.
4. Remove excess fat. We measure, mark and remove any sagging skin. The skin is usually removed at the navel line.
5. We make and sew a new opening for the navel. Don't worry - since the navel no longer has any function after birth, it is completely harmless.
6. Finally, suction drains (also known as drainage) are placed under the skin and the wound is sutured.
After the incision, we cover it with plasters and put on a compression garment. This is a special, tight undergarment (it looks like shapewear) that will help with healing and prevent swelling.
We discharge you to home care on the same day, unless the volume of the tummy tuck was really large or you combined it with other procedures. Medicines (analgesics) are prescribed to relieve discomfort if necessary.
The drainage tubes are removed at the control, three to five days after the procedure. Absence from work depends on the scope of the operation. On average, it takes 14 days. It is important that you rest at home for the first few days after surgery and follow our recovery instructions. You will be able to move, but don't exert yourself too much.
There are always risks in medical and aesthetic procedures. In abdominoplasty or tummy tucks are well known, rare and usually manageable.
Swelling (so it is important not to stop wearing the compression garment too soon), inflammation or bleeding may occur. We will pay attention to all signs of irregularities during the control inspections.
A few days after the surgery, the patient has drainage tubes inserted under the skin. Sometimes in the following days after discharge pus accumulates under the skin which can be removed with a puncture.
Smoking a few days before and 14 days after the surgery is not advised due to the significant effect on healing.
The patient stays one night after the surgery.
The price of abdominoplasty depends on the specifics of each individual and is determined at the end of the consultation.
