Vaginal laxity syndrome or vaginal laxity or vaginal relaxation is a condition in which there is a loss of tone and elasticity of the vaginal muscles and related structures.
This is manifested in the way that a woman notices , that the feeling in the intimate areas is not the same, that he experiences sex with his partner less intensely, or that his vagina is simply too wide.
A loose vagina usually occurs due to several factors, which are usually interrelated. What they all have in common is that they affect the vaginal wall, which eventually loses elasticity and becomes loose.
Among the most common causes are:
- Childbirth - During vaginal birth, the muscles of the vagina are stretched, which can cause a loss of tone and elasticity. Larger and more difficult births can increase the risk of vaginal laxity.
- Hormonal changes - The decline of estrogen during menopause reduces the tone and elasticity of the tissues in the vagina
- Obesity - Increased body weight can increase pressure on the pelvic muscles, which can lead to vaginal laxity.< br>- Smoking - Nicotine and other harmful substances in cigarettes affect the blood flow in the tissues, which can affect the elasticity of the vagina.
- Intense exercise - Excessive and direct stress on the pelvic floor, such as lifting heavy weights, can contribute to vaginal laxity.
- Genetics - Some women may be more prone to vaginal laxity due to genetic factors.
- Other health problems: Certain health problems, such as hormonal disorders or connective tissue diseases, can affect the elasticity of the vagina - Lack of sexual activity - Lack of sexual activity can contribute to a decrease in elasticity vagina.
There are several options for the treatment of loose vagina, the choice of which depends on the severity of the problem and the individual wishes and needs of the individual. During the consultation, based on a conversation and an examination, our gynecologist will assess which method would be most suitable for your problems.
Operatively, loose vagina syndrome is treated with anterior and posterior vaginal plastic surgery. There are many post-operative problems, and the result usually does not impress the patient. Such an intervention is not covered by health insurance.
The latest and currently the only truly successful method of treating loose vagina syndrome is the use of a laser. The method has so far proven to be safe, easy and really effective. We use Foton's ErYAG laser with a light wavelength of 2940 nm, which stimulates the regeneration of tissues in the vagina.
With a photothermal effect, it affects the collagen fibers in the vagina and the endopelvic fascia and causes remodeling, redistribution and re-growth of collagen, which is why it thickens in the area that was illuminated with the laser (the entrance to the vagina and the entire length of the vagina). Thus, the tissue around the vagina is transformed and the vaginal tube narrows.
Through a conversation and a gynecological examination, we determine the statics of the pelvic floor, determine the loose vagina syndrome and roughly assess the degree of SUI (stress urinary incontinence). If there is no significant slippage of the uterus or vagina, the patient is advised to have a laser procedure.
The procedure does not interfere with the inserted uterine device or hormonal contraception, hormone replacement therapy or prior sterilization, and it is not performed during menstruation.
The procedure takes place on a gynecological chair and takes about 10 minutes. The entrance to the vagina is sprayed with a local anesthetic so that the entire procedure is completely painless. In order to protect her eyes from laser light, the patient wears protective glasses throughout the procedure. At the start of the procedure, the gynecologist inserts a specially adapted gynecological "beak" into the vagina. A 360 o laser probe with a gold spray is inserted into it, and in a few strokes the entire vaginal wall is illuminated with short laser pulses. Then the gynecologist replaces the laser probe, inserts a 90 o laser probe with a gold nozzle into the beak and illuminates the anterior vaginal wall with short laser pulses in a few steps. He then pulls out the beak and illuminates the entrance to the vagina with the handpiece. This part of the procedure is particularly demanding and crucial for improving the quality of sexual relations. This concludes the procedure.
- The patient can go home immediately after the procedure or returns to daily activities.
- The vagina is minimally sensitive after the procedure.
- Clear discharge from the vagina lasts 2 to 3 days.
- Sexual relations and bathing in stagnant water are not recommended one week.
The success of laser treatment of a loose vagina depends on several factors, mainly on the severity of the condition and the specifics of the individual. In general, it is believed that laser treatment improves the tone and elasticity of the vagina, which leads to an improvement in associated symptoms such as looseness and dryness of the tissue. However, there is no guarantee that the problems will be completely eliminated.
95% of the patients claimed that after the procedure was completed, they felt a moderate narrowing of the vagina and thus a better quality of sex. On average, the vagina narrowed by 17%.
It is recommended that laser surgery for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and vaginal laxity be performed at the same time. This is how we achieve the maximum possible effect. When treating, we always do 3 treatments. Treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart....
