About the procedure
Abderoplastics is a surgical procedure of removing excess skin and fat from the stomach. This is the process of stomach formation and not body-weight reduction. In most cases we advise the patient to intensely lose weight before the surgery as the result will thus be much better and more permanent. If the patient gains substantial weight after the surgery, the result of the surgery will be worse considering the extra body weight. This surgery is usually paired with stomach and kidney-area liposuction so that a better figure is achieved. In case of loose stomach muscles (diastasis recti) or umbilical hernia, we additionally correct these two irregularities during the procedure.
After the procedure
A few days after the surgery, the patient has drainage tubes inserted under the skin. Sometimes in the following days after discharge pus accumulates under the skin which can be removed with a puncture.
Smoking a few days before and 14 days after the surgery is not advised due to the significant effect on healing.
The patient stays one night after the surgery.

Scar
The scar is generally diagonal over the pubic bone in the line of the elastic edge of the underwear. The visibility of the scar depends on the reaction of the body to the wound. In most cases the scar goes from red to less visible lighter skin colour within a year.
After the surgery, it is necessary to wear a compression garment for at least four weeks.
Recommendations
We recommend lymphatic drainage to all patients in terms of reducing the swelling. Swelling can be very pronounced for some time, so that the girth of the abdomen may be temporarily even equal to or higher than before the surgery.
The working capacity depends on the size of the surgery and the position, and is normally regained after two to three weeks.
