The appearance of your eyelids is influenced by several factors, from your genes to your lifestyle. With aging, which for some means 30s, 40s, others 50s, the thin and delicate skin around the eyes stretches, and the muscles weaken. The fat pads that once made our eyes pop shift over time, causing sagging skin over the eyes, wrinkles and puffy eyelids. The eyes can look much smaller and, most disturbingly, tired.
Such a condition can be alleviated with retinol creams, but the most and longest-lasting help you can get is with an aesthetic procedure called blepharoplasty or eyelid lift. Fortunately, it is a safe and effective procedure that largely provides excellent results for patients. In fact, eyelid surgery is one of the most popular procedures we perform here.
The drooping eyebrows act as a pole, and the eyelids act as curtains over the eyes. Such eyes make you look tired and old. Some clients confide in us that others even saw them as rude, always frowning. This turns into a vicious cycle – when you look tired, you start to feel tired. Excess skin can also appear as bags under the eyes. Removing excess skin and fat from the eyelids can dramatically change a person's appearance. You suddenly look awake, while your eyes are wide and expressive, restoring a youthful appearance to your whole face. The bonus is that the incisions in blepharoplasty are almost unknown. The face will be more beautiful, and the consequences of the operation will be invisible to others.
Over the years, our muscle that keeps the upper eyelid raised also ages. Like a rubber band, it becomes weak and stretched as it loses its elasticity. Since the latter change is gradual, the first signs are difficult to notice. One of these is the crease principle, which points to the weakness of our eyelids. When the eyelid is weak, it can no longer lift excess fat and skin. By tightening your skin in the clinic, we allow the upper eyelid to retract, which improves your field of vision.
There are three main causes of dark circles; loss of volume to the tissue under the eyes, excess fat on the eyelids which can cause 'bumps' and a decrease in skin pigmentation which causes darkness under the eyes. Correct surgical procedures can help with these problems by removing excess skin, redistributing fat and replacing lost volume.
Have you heard that we actually laugh with our eyes? Over time, your eye shape can become smaller and narrower. This is usually due to changes in the lower part of the eyes. The skin becomes looser and weighed down with pockets of fat that appear under the eyes. By lifting and removing excess fat and skin, you achieve a more beautiful shape of your eyes. Your outlook will be more open and you will appear more approachable to others.
Eyes are a central aesthetic feature and are often the first thing anyone notices about you. Feeling satisfied with one's appearance is therefore key to positive self-esteem. As such, the physical improvements that result from cosmetic eyelid surgery and other combined procedures (eg facelifts) are immeasurable and will certainly help you feel more confident in your own skin.
